Choosing a cannabis pre-roll is kind of like closing your eyes while you are grocery shopping - you won’t know what you’re getting! It’s hard to choose a pre-roll when you can’t see (or smell) what’s inside, so that’s why you need to do your research beforehand. Not all pre-rolled joints are created equally and some are definitely better than others for a variety of reasons.

Not only can you not see the flower inside the pre-rolled joints, you can’t even see the joints themselves! Under the Canadian Cannabis Act and current cannabis regulations, there are many guidelines that cannabis brands have to follow. One of these rules forbids windows in the packaging, so no chance at sneaking a peak before purchasing. Instead, you need to narrow it down to a few different brands yourself.

Some cannabis pre-rolls use shake or trim, and others use whole buds. They both have their pros and cons.

Whole buds may retain a better flavor and more efficient therapeutic qualities, but there are great pre-rolls made from trim, too. A lot of the time, pre-rolled joints made with shake or trim are more affordable, making them a great option for cannabis users on a budget.

The type of cannabis flower used in your pre-roll is up to you, but with a little research, you should be able to narrow down your options to something that will really appeal to your personal preferences.
